Powerful, Reliable Engine with Electric Start
The PR1030ES is powered by a reliable 291-cc OHV engine with standard speed drive that is designed for use in colder climates. There are two ways to start up the engine: electric or traditional recoil starting. Electric starting fires up the engine by using the included power cord connected to a standard 120-volt outlet and simply pressing the electric start button located on the engine. The engine will fire up without priming.

The deep-tread 16-inch tires are powered for easy maneuvering over snowy terrain. The PR1030ES also features power steering for easy turns. The drive speed lever controls the snow thrower's speed and direction (forward/reverse). The traction drive lever allows the user to quickly engage or disengage the drive system.

Two-Stage Snow Removal Clears Deep Snow
With a wide 30-inch x 23-inch (W x H) intake and two-stage snow thrower functionality, the PR1030ES is able to throw snow more efficiently than a single-stage model. Two-stage snow thrower technology employs an auger with an additional impeller for greater efficiency--removing snow faster and throwing it farther. The adjustable skid plate allows for alterations to the height of the scraper bar for use on a variety of surfaces, including concrete, dirt, and ice.

The discharge chute and deflector are controlled remotely, allowing the snow to be directed away from the user and at various distances. An included tool facilitates quick cleaning of the discharge chute.

Conveniently Located Control Panel for Easy Operation
The PR1030ES features a convenient control panel for managing the various functions of the machine. Located between the comfortable loop handle grips, this panel allows the user to control the drive system's speed and direction, the deflector's angle and direction, steering, auger operation, and engage and disengage the drive system--all within arm's reach.

An integrated flood light illuminates the work path for easier removal of snow in low-light conditions.

The PR1030ES weighs 265 pounds and uses a 12-inch diameter auger and 12-inch diameter impeller configuration. It is backed by a two-year limited warranty.

What's in the Box
PR1030ES Snow Thrower, power cord, safety ignition key, multi-wrench, and user manual.

Will eat any snow

This Poulan PP10530ES 10.5 hp Snow Thrower just eats through what ever snow you get. It was an early Christmas present for my daughter and son in law - Well 99% son in law. The guy now looks forward to heavy snow falls that he can use this Beast on. No more noise than a smaller unit, and less manhandeling with the power steering and joystick controls. Fear no snow !!!!!

Bought this last year (Mar 07). Looks like the model has a new handlebar, other than that it is identical to mine. If you want/need power, think Tim 'the Toolman', this is the machine for you. Minor nits:
1) handlebars don't seem strong enough, they flex easily.
2) paint easily taken off when adjusting nuts and bolts
3) finding the slowest forward speed setting is difficult, this machine wants to move down the driveway very quickly.

This evening it was easily throwing 5" of snow over 50ft. I could have buried the neighbor plowing his driveway at the same time. Be ready with a wrench because the machine vibrates as much as a Harley. Lastly, wear ear plugs, pulling it into and out of the garage was very painful.

Shipping was fast, it comes delivered on a palet. Takes about an hour to assemble, mainly setting up the handlebars. Overall a very nice machine, if you have doubts whether you need this much hp, go for the 8.5hp.
Working well after a rough start

Overall satisfied with this snowblower as what it was represented to be at a very good price. Powerful, pretty easy to use, requires a bit of muscle, gets the job done. The "rough start" refers to the fact that it arrived missing an augur pin so only one half of the augur worked on the first use, which was 18 inches of snow, making for pretty tough sledding. Figuring out the problem with the distributor was more difficult than it should have been, but once diagnosed it was easily solved with a minor mechanical installation any homeowner could complete on his or her own. QA/QC took a day off at the factory, I guess. But working great now, and I do recommend this product as a heavy capacity snowblower -- properly assembled.
VERY SATISFIED

Works great but the auger belt came off after 3rd use

My machine got delivered this past Friday [12/19] just in time for the first NE snow. It worked great, everything that a novice, like myself, could ask for. Unfortunately, the auger belt came off after 3rd use.

I called Northern Tool and Equipment and they referred me to a couple of vendors in the next town but both refused warranty service on the machine. Another vendor agreed to service the machine but wanted me to bring the machine to them. I could potentially see this happening a couple of years down the line, but not within a week. I don't think I am being unreasonable to ask their repair guy to come home and fix it.

I just called Poulan directly and they are closed until 12/29 so I am kind stuck until then.....
Solid unit for the price

This is a very solid unit and is identical to the Sears item # 07188106000 and the Poulan branded unit at Sams Club with the exception that the Sears and Sam's unit has the newer B&S engine labeled as 14.5 gross ft-lb torque rather than 10.5hp.

The 'power steering' is a must on a unit of this size and it work well. Starts with one pull; there is no need for the electric start.

I found that all of the controls and pivot points benefited greatly from a dose of liquid lube and now work smooth and light.

My only issue so far is the speed control; there are not specific speeds forward and reverse leaving you to guess how fast it will go and it what direction.

If you are not handy note that the Sears unit can be had with a 5 year maintenance and repair plan for about $200.
Couple Small Details

Reviewer: Daniel E. Beil,
The Snow Blower itself is really cool. Although it has not snowed since purchasing the blower, just realizing the features as compared to local hardware store brands indicates a good buy.

There are some shipping issues. Even thought Amazon claims free shipping, that only gets the blower to your driveway. You have to have two very strong adults to remove it from the 18 wheeler or pay to have it unloaded...yes pay to have it unloaded. Also, due to the size a forklift has to move this around...mine was damaged by the forklift. Finally, Northern did not bolt both sides of the sled down to the packing board...the sled is not bent from shipping and moving around.
