| This is by far the best string trimmer I have ever owned. You just don't have to fuss with the string. It is completely automatic, no bumping to adjust. I have been pleasantly surprised by the amount of work that can be done with one charge. The battery holds its' charge for a long time between uses, unlike most of my other cordless tools. Most string trimmers I have previously owned were very fussy and always seemed to be in need of adjustment. I have owned this trimmer for six months and it has worked flawlessly |
Excellent trimmer

I bought this item in May of 2002. Now it's the summer of 2009
and I'm STILL using it. That's 8 summers! It worked as good today as it did when
I used it for the first time. It trims exactly what I WANT it to
trim.. Around the house, around the 3 decks, around the RV, around
the flower beds and around several trees and bushes.
Yes.. there are other trees that there is not enough battery power
for, but by then I've had enough yard work for one day. I'm
done, anyway! I only wish one thing. That I could buy another
one when it dies..(I HOPE IT NEVER DOES!)
Oh..and I've only changed the string once in those 8 years. |
Nice for the price, charges last a long time

I've only had this trimmer for a few weeks, but I'm impressed. We have a large yard, and it trims all the edging and hard-to-reach places on one charge, with plenty to spare it seems. It's lightweight, the line feed works well, and it was very affordable.
A good purchase! |
The CST1200 trimmer is good for low intensity work

The CST1200 was basically hassle-free and gave no problems for about 11 months.
However, note that it is for reasonably light work; the design DID NOT include a telescoping shaft!; The Automatic Feed Spool system did not always feed the string as designed and I sometimes had to extend it by manually; The battery is not "user" replaceable; Initially the charge only allowed about 15 minutes work time increasing to about 20 minutes after a few charge cycles.
In future I will opt for a trimmer with a bit more power and a replaceable battery so when the first dies during the job you just swap it and carry on working. |
Disappointed with Battery

| I bought this to replace a similar Black and Decker unit that I had for two years before smoke started coming out and the old one burned up. The battery is important. I used it for edging primarily on the sidewalk and along the other edges along the house and yard. The previous unit I had did a great job and I could do the entire yard with one charge. I had gone to Home Depot and found they had a similar Black & Decker but when I got it home I saw it had two small batteries which meant that I would have to swap out batteries at some point during the edging, so I took that back and checked Amazon and saw this unit which looks identical to the one I had that burned up and had just one battery. I read a review which said the battery was good and lasted a long time so I bought it based on that recommendation. I can't do my entire yard because the battery's charge will not make it. So I'm having to break the yard edging job into two days or if one day, wait a couple or more hours until it charges back up. It's a pain. Not sure why my previous unit could do it with no sweat and this one won't unless it's a smaller battery. Now I've bought it and used it a few times, so I guess I'm stuck with it. |
battery needs recharging too often.
